The township of Hartland, Michigan is located in the eastern portion of Livingston County and borders Oakland County. It is about ten miles north of the Brighton / Howell area. US-23 crosses Hartland Township and leads north 28 miles to Flint or 28 miles south to Ann Arbor.

Hartland Township is home to several golf courses and cider mills. According to Michigan.org, the surrounding area overflows with 50,000 acres of parks, 123 miles of trails, 184 lakes, and 20 golf courses.
